Cfengine 3, one year on.
It's been just over a year since Cfengine 3 was released. Over that year I've been using it heavily. My opinion of this latest version has not changed. Cfengine 3 has a lot to offer.
- Improved syntax. Unlike version 2, version 3 syntax is consistent throughout.
- Redundancy. Cfengine 3 offers great redundancy through a 'failsafe' operation and redundant policy hosts.
- Library. The Cfengine websites (cfengine.org and cfengine.com) have a great selection of examples and ready to use code.
- Validator. The new program
cf-promisescan validate code. - Reporting. Better canned and custom reporting.
- Modular policies. Modules, bundles and methods allow you to create reusable polices.
All of the reasons for using Cfengine that I've mentioned before (1 2 3) have never been more true. Don't just listen to me, big companies are embracing Cfengine. Don't get left behind.
